Goodbye Christmas.

Normal service has been resumed, albeit a day early as I am out tomorrow and Wednesday, and Christmas is tucked up again in it's cupboard for another year.

This was our landing two days ago during which time another two large bags of fabrics joined the pile.   I have been collecting all sorts of fabrics for making rag rugs for several years, but the process of rag rugging is quite hard on the hands and I don't think I shall be making any more.  Everything is now with the local secondary school art and textile department.  I was delighted to find it all a good home and they were delighted to accept it.

There are still some general books to be packed up but they will go to the Lion's Club book shop.  After that I shall turn my attention to the kitchen cupboards - I shudder to think of some of the sell by dates that might be lurking in the back of my larder.

I feel so sorry for those affected by floods - it must be truly awful.  The forecasters keep saying that the weather will remain changeable.  I don't think changeable is the right word for it - it seems to be stuck in a rut and we keep getting the same, over and over again.

It isn't cold, so I won't say 'Keep warm'.  Just keep dry and roll on some seasonal weather then perhaps we can all look forward to proper a spring.

I've just had a lovely thought.  Now I have cleared out so many books I have room for some new ones!

It's always good to have a clear out!

I think the weather now gets stuck in unseasonable ruts which are then really difficult to move out of. Something to do with ocean currents I think.

Funnily enough Heather, I have broken my resolution not to buy any books for a while already - I watched the programme on walking the Himalayas and though it wonderful, then read that he had brought out a book on it - so off to Amazon it was and only four days into the new year.

Well done with all the clearing. It's something I keep intending to get on with. I wonder if all schools/colleges would be pleased to receive surplus fabrics and notions? I've got so much stuff that I won't use, especially as arthritis is affecting my hands and making me rethink which ways my creativity will go. Happy New Year and I hope you stay healthy and flood free.

I wish I could be ruthless and have a clean out, but every time I get the urge it only lasts for a couple of hours and then I put it all back again.

What a wonderful cleanout! I did the same thing last year after I lost my eyesight, but I never thought about schools being interested. I did find good homes for most of my collection however so I hope it has all been used.
We are having crazy weather over here too, the weather people say it is the result of a very strong El Nino in the Pacific Ocean, which apparently affects the northern hemisphere as well. It is supposedly the strongest one for about 25 years, I just wish it would go away.

Just done ours too Heather. It always feel good to have a sort out and move things on. Bet the school were very pleased to receive all that fabric. Nice to see it going to a good home.
Happy New Year to you.

A recent downsizing house move necessitated sorting things out and it felt really good too.

Thank you for getting in touch Heather...it was so lovely to hear from you.
I think we are all trying hard to get organised for 2016 and downsize a little.....But then, like you, I see a new book....ooops! :-D
Lets hope this year is a good one...I could certainly do with an improvement on the last one. xx
