Springtime!

I know it isn't very pretty, but for me this really does herald springtime. It's our first dollop of frogspawn and arrived two days ago. It began to wonder if the frogs had abandoned us - they are quite a bit later than usual this year.
.
This weeks Poetry Bus task is set by Rachel Fox and she suggests we choose a favourite word and write a poem around it. After changing my mind several times I finally settled for 'springtime' - I think it was the frogspawn that did it!

Springtime.

Long awaited time of year
when all is new, fresh and full of promise.
A time to lift the spirits and delight the senses -
each day bringing a new surprise.
The scent of flowers, and foliage after rain -
birdsong, the hum of bees and newborn creatures
calling to their mothers.
Fresh foods for jaded winter palates,
delicate textures of emerging leaves and flowers,
the welcome warmth of the sun
and everywhere, new growth to delight the eye.
All of this plus the knowledge that
summer will follow.
.
I am going in for the latest fashion in country style home decor - here is my latest accessory, sadly only on loan. You may have seen it before!!

Take a look in any countrystyle glossy magazine and in many of their features and adverts you will find an endearing dog lying on a bed, sofa, rug, carpet or flooring.

No matter where you display your accessory, your home will be enhanced.

To 'get the look' for your home, if you haven't already got a dog, borrow one today!! The light was quite bright outside which may account for my pictures turning out to be rather dark - sorry about that.

I hope the frogspawn means the weather will be turning warmer, although we are due sleet here on Thursday!

Spot on about Spring! I was crossing Coverdale in the Dales late last night and felt moved to stop the car on the highest point and just walk along the ridge in the moonlight for a while. It was very mild. Summer isn't far off.

I am also beneficiary (victim?) of a loan dog from time to time - it's a Yorkie, so even smaller.

No need to apologise for the quality of light Heather - not with that accessory. I have one too and yes, I agree, it is one accessory that enhances wherever it chooses to sit! Thanks for all your good wishes. Love the poem too - springtime - got to be my favourite word this year. The word verification is pawuzu!

Thankyou for all your kind comments, especially the real poets among you - I always feel that I am an imposter.
He is a she Carol and goes by the name of Poppy - she is adorable.

Cute little dog. I like the idea that you can give him back :o) I got all excited over frogspawn a few days ago too. It does seem to be late this year. Your poem gave me pause to think that I don't often stop to think these days, so thank you for reminding me to stop and look.

I'm not a real poet eithre and you are not an impostor. I could feel the warm spring sunshine and smell the burgeoning new growth. Evocative is what good poems are - what yours is.

Love your poem Heather - and I thought the pic of frogspawn was very pretty - beautiful 'textured' photograph. Poppy looks very loving and friendly, and extremely intelligent!

How lovely, our pets are a joy (at times). We haven't any frogspawn yet. I love that poem. You are getting too good!

I love frogspawn! Reminds me of the days when we used to have some in a tank on the nature table in my classroom :-)
I also love your poem - it really says it all about springtime.
